And when I say packed bar, I don't necessarily mean more people. I mean when there is little to no movement possible.

For me it seems like I get the most eye contact when I'm sitting somewhere on a chair.

f.e. sitting on a chair at a table I can easily notice women in my environment making eye contact with me. Or when i'm moving through the venue, I'll notice the same effect.

But when the bar is packed and there is less room to move around without pushing people, it seems to happen less.

has everyone also had this? I also think that it could be because I get annoyed really easily when bars are just too crowded. This can ruin a night for me, it something that I'm going to have to get used to I guess.

Yeah, you need to get used to it. But yes. I get the most eye contact when I'm up and walking around. But generally, you'll get more eye contact when a venue...

...has space and lots of lines of sight between people;
...a good male/female ratio;
...is less social-circle oriented and more dance-floor oriented

yes exactly! This is definetly what I've noticed. It's like in some venues you sit there and have a lot of women making eye contact with you. And in other venues it's almost non existent.

But personally I prefer less crowded bars. The best bars have a dancefloor area that is packed and have comfortable tables around that area. I feel most comfortable in those environments. In the others I get annoyed so easily and if I do approach it's not always warmly received whereas in venues with more space it's a totally different story.
