Typically the emotions are deeper than the beliefs. Beliefs usually reflect our emotional make-up. But you switch the belief and that's usually the first step to resolving the emotional knot.

So whether he's "over" it or not... as with most inner game stuff, it's not that cut and dry. It's a process. Undoing the belief is usually a big part of that process.

So it comes down to being aware of it and then doing it anyway over and over. I think when you eventually get enough experience that contradicts with that limiting belief, the feeling will disappear too.

Sometimes its happened to me pretty quickly:

Read something from a percieved authority that opens your mind to a new option => start to roll the idea around your mind a lot (i.e. get obsessed with it) => get 1 new experience that backs it up => completely destroyed old belief.... and so on...

Sometimes its not that easy.
