I saw a movie recently where the hero picked up the heroine and it blew me away at how accurate and well-done it was. Especially since Hollywood is absolutely overrun with unrealistic, and horribly inaccurate seductions. I'm not going to say what movie it was, but it got me thinking of what some of the best pick ups I've seen in films, and I'd like to do a series of posts for fun on them.

But I know I'm forgetting some, so I'd like to throw it to board. What are some of the best examples of pick ups you've seen in movies? And by best, I mean: most accurate, most well-done by the male character, most believable.

I'll probably go back and watch a bunch and then do a 2 or 3 part series on the blog.

Would love to hear from the board's female contingent on this as well.

I know the movie Hitch may come across to the members of this board as a played movie, but this one scene is pretty good actually. He puts on a little role-playing, original given the context. He does all the usual "gaming" for lack of a better word, but the most accurate part is when he sees it's going nowhere. He knows it. She knows it. But it's cool.

There's a scene in Sideways where the main character, Miles (Paul Giamatti) is talking to the female lead played by Virginia Madsen. He tells her about his book and she's genuinely intrigued, and there's a moment in the the conversation when he describes why he prefers Pinot Noirs in such a genuine way that you can tell it's the moment she totally falls for him. I can't find the clip on you tube, but it's actually a remarkable scene.

Also - one of the beginning scenes in Iron Man where Tony Stark picks up a reporter is a pretty good example of aggressive high-attraction game.

Ironically, that scene was improved by Harrison Ford. The original script was a generic "I love you too."

Easily one of the funniest scenes I'll ever remember comes from the 40 year old virgin where he's hitting on the girl in the book store by only asking her questions.
