Mark, what I'd say is that you are right that attraction, comfort, and escalation are the three essential elements to getting girls, the most effective ways to do that depends on context - and that includes the sequence. For instance, if I stop a girl outside a bar at midnight to talk to her, I probably am going to have to move her, and fast. On the other hand if I'm at a bar, I don't need to worry about bouncing right away. I think what mystery did was pick one logistical scenario and roadmap the fuck out of it. I don't actually think it's the most effective roadmap for that scenario.

I also think that's why Brian compared it to a sales strategy - interestingly, as a lawyer meeting with potential clients, we don't have a sales pitch, because what we are offering and what the client needs are so diverse it wouldn't work. Certainly in some sales contexts you can script more, but I think picking up girls is much more of a varied thing, so sticking to the script can get you in trouble.
