Should I move to S.Korea for a year?
So I know that a lot of Canadian graduates fuck off to Korea for a year to teach English. The pay is around $2,200/month plus rent and travel expenses.

In a way I want to do it, because I can save a decent amount of money, I get to travel, and apparently Korean women are really fond of white guys.

The problem is that its for such a long time and I'll be away from my friends and family. Also, if I don't like it and the whole novelty of being in a foreign country wears off, I'm stuck there for a year.

Do it

Living in a foreign contry is a great experience and you probably wont have the opportunity to do it later.

Dont do it if you are just out for easy women though

Sounds like crazy fun. Plus you can visit the whole region.

I know it's intimidating, but if you're young and have no other attachments (kids, mortgage, wife, etc.), then do it. You won't regret it. Living abroad is one of the most valuable experiences I can think of for a young person.

Hey, was thinking of doing a similar thing. But I'm 31. Still young enough?

Do it. I've been here teaching for about 4 months now, and I had the exact same thoughts your having now before I left. Believe me when I tell you that the year flies by so unbelievably quickly it's ridiculous. I'm absolutely flabbergasted that i've been here for 1/3 of my trip, it feels like weeks. There's a ton of things to do in Seoul to keep you busy, and it's really easy to meet like minded expats. Not to mention most of the younger Koreans love meeting and making friends with foreigners. You definitely miss your friends and family back home, but having the internet and Skype makes it a lot easier. Even if you come for a few months and hate it, you can still quit; you just have to pay for your travel expenses because you didn't finish the contract.

Like Richard Branson says: Life is a hell lot more fun if you say Yes instead of No.
