This approach, had it gone off, would have been perfect. Was a near miss.

I was on my way to court to argue a motion, and about a block away I notice I am walking next to a cute blonde girl carrying Infinite Jest. I make some kind of comment and we talk about the book a bit. I mention I started it on vacation and didn't get through it. I don't think this is going to go anywhere becuase I am in a rush and I literally wouldn't have time to stop her to get a number, but I notice we are both headed to the courthouse steps. Turns out she is on her way to a vacation in New Mexico, and needs to get out of jury duty. I tell her I am headed to argue a motion. I also find out she is a Harvard senior, and thinking about taking a DFW class. Sadly, she didn't know he was dead. So, I am about to go for the number, while on line for the metal dettectors, and I get a feeling that there's one question I should ask: "So what's in New Mexico" ... she says "my boyfriend." Oh well.

So what? You can still go out for a coffee with her. If you like each other, you should spend more time together. It doesn't have to be sexual or anything.

I don't like hitting on girls who are in a relationship because I don't want to destroy or harm relationships. Furthermore, I think it's really antisocial and pathetic that some guys see that as a challenge and discuss "boyfriend destroyers" tactics on PUA forums.
