Online Dating
Thinking about trying it, with the purpose of finding a girl for a One-night-stand or a fuckbuddy, nothing serious.
What are your experiences, did you guys have success with it? Can anyone of the Germans here recommend a good site?
thx

RE: Online Dating
I tried it when I moved home from college last year and had no social life. Signed up for the website (free, wouldnt have paid for it) and started messaging girls I thought were cute.

I ended up meeting 2 different girls. One of them hot and crazy, one of them okay-looking and very cool. You know which one I still see on a regular basis lol. I fooled around with both of them on the first night we met. It's not hard to do.

I'm a fan of finding girls online, especially when things have been slow for a couple of weeks or you're bored of your current girls. Just be prepared to find some crazies out there, because I certainly have.

Online dating isn't too terrible. I have a terrible memory of meeting up with a girl from Emerson I met online who was absolutely bat shit. Didn't help either that he ex boyfriend called to say he just had swallowed an entire bottle of tylenol while we were hanging out.

This is something that I should probably make a specific thread about. On probably 5+ occasions, I have seen girls consistently popping up in the 'People You May Know' section on my Facebook page. When I started seeing the same hot girls consistently appearing, I decided to send them a friend request.

Sometimes you get a friendly, 'Hey, do I know you?' message. Sometimes they just outright Accept and sometimes they flatly Decline. Much more often than not, though, they'll Accept.

When it comes time to open them, I usually just start with a message on Facebook Chat - if they haven't already initiated first - and say something like: 'Hey, sorry for the random creeper add lol. You just keep popping up on my 'People You May Know' thing, so..how do I know you?'

Then you start talking about your mutual friends and you're off. If your game is good enough - and really, you should be free of any approach or conversation anxiety over the computer because it's not a face-to-face conversation - you'll be able to pick her up.

Just to give this post a little more legitimacy, I have included pictures of 3 girls who I have picked up in exactly this way. I neglected to include links to their pages to protect privacy. Sarah I dated for a few months, and Rachel I've been FWB (friends with benefits) with for almost a year. One of them was actually former Canadian Idol finalist (who is from my hometown) Ashley Coles.

Rachel

So in closing, I actually really quite enjoy picking up girls on Facebook. It's unorthodox and challenging. The purpose of including the pictures is to prove that it can be done with girls who aren't just ugly and/or desperate. These are girls who have options, and it's a nice ego boost to pick up via FB.

Any further questions I'll be happy to answer

RE: Online Dating
Question about profiles, so I have an okcupid account and the site allows you to see who visited your profile. So I message the girl and usually I see that they've visited my profile, but I rarely get a reply back so I'm guessing I probably need to do work on my profile a little more so what are people's experiences with this? and any suggestions on what makes a good profile?

RE: Online Dating
I totally agree with Mark on the comfort thing. DeAngelo and DaveM really screwed me up with their ideas on this. I then started to observe that women do need more comfort and trust and that is very important.

What I do not agree with at all is the pic thing. You need to have some decent pics. Especially if you are not "the type" - meaning the atypical over 5'10 and in the right age group they are targeting "25 to 35" type of description. I am sorry to get into the height thing again, but hell, this is the real world and height is a tall factor (pardon the pun) and its about the logic side of their brains. These chicks have the logic side of their brain on overrride so they are looking at you like a nutrition label. You need to figure out a way around it via some good photos or description, hobbies and stuff so good photos are helpful. Another reason of that is they have met so many guys that do not look like their photos from past meet ups so its another source of comfort and trust.

Just my experiences.

I think someone touched on this in a previous thread, but online dating websites may be the only time where height actually matters. Women can literally set a filter for their physical preferences, and it's very easy to be excluded from that. They're literally shopping for men online, as if picking from a virtual meat market. Too short? Pass. Too fat? Pass. It's okay to fib a little online, if you've got the game to pick her up anyway.

Women generally say they weigh 10-20 lbs. less than they usually do online, so I don't see anything wrong with giving yourself a couple extra inches in height. Once you've got her in the bag, what does it matter?

I'm 5'9. My POF profile says 6'0. It hasn't slowed me down yet and I'm positive that I would've been skipped over many times if I'd listed my actual height.

haha, i'm like 5'6, but my online profile says i'm 5'7. I wanna try lying my way up to 5'9, as that seems to be the benchmark for girls if they set a search filter. Ever been called on it when you get them on a date, or do they just have short memories for trivial shit like height when your in"realtime" with them?
