Stereotypical good looks
Hey I wanted some of your guys take on this.

Can you be considered good looking without falling into that Euro-centric standard of good looking? Google male model and you will see what I mean.

Any thoughts?

RE: Stereotypical good looks
yes. especially when looking at guys, women tend to look at the whole picture (lifestyle, happiness, body language, job, etc.) when deciding if a man is attractive. It's less physically based than how men perceive female attractiveness.

Furthermore, attraction is very subjective. Read this article - it's very interesting. It was done for men looking at women - but I would assume it works the other way as well.

Of course... so many women have bizarre or unique tastes in men. There are a lot of women who find the male model or Brad Pitt look to not be that attractive. There are women who love big guys with beards, women who like skinny emo kids.

Good stuff, it validates my suspicions. I'm told I'm good looking here and there, but I am definately not model-esque.

Its just weird, to hear these types of comments when you deviate from the the perceived "norm" of what is "good looking"

Anyone else got some experience with this??

Yeah Mark touched on it there, briefly. Just like how every sport or activity has groupies - from rock stars to chess champions - many women have different tastes. Some women I know love the Harley Davidson biker dudes with tonnes of tattoos and that 'haven't shaved or showered in a week' look.

Another point to make is that women base physical attractiveness on a man's body much moreso than his face. The good thing about that is, in most cases, it doesn't take too much work to improve the body, the same can't be said for the face.

Whether you're short, tall, white, black, yellow, purple, hairy, look like a 12 year old, speaking Zulu or lived on Mars for a year... joining a gym and exercising correctly for 1-2 months will do as much for your results as anything else.

And most of it will just have to do with the confidence and energy you gain from it.
