I have begun to think natural game is a misnomer for a real phenomenon.

First, I think scripted game is a real thing, and it can work. It's soul killing, but it can work. Mystery basically invented the stuff, which was a natural outgrowth of his background as a magician. Magicians go into predictable settings, control the audience's attention to control their perceptions, and get relatively predictable outcomes. This is a difficult skill to develop and takes tons of practice. So, he developed an insanely elaborate method for controlling interactions with women to get them into bed. It's brilliant, in a twisted way. The key to the system is controlling the interaction so it goes along a predictable and time tested path so that you can apply tested, extremely well rehearsed techniques to keep things moving along.

Most people are not insane enough to actually go through with this ridiculous process. Learning it takes years of practice and warps your interactions with women. However, many men are desperate enough that they are willing to convince themselves to try. Almost nobody actually bothers to learn the method all the way through. However, through practicing, a lot of guys get better social calibration and less social anxiety. They force themselves to have tons of interactions. Thus, these guys end up getting good.

Now, some guys who get good decide they want to teach. However, their customers are Mystery Method or Speed Seduction students, so they know that saying "you don't need any system or hidden technique, I'll just give you a game plan for handling your social anxiety and improving your social skills" won't sell. Oh, and if they didn't know that, One David Deangelo would make it clear that saying that won't get you on his DVD sets, or CD series. So, you had better sound like you have a super secret system. So, people invent the term natural game. Then, of course, they proceed to rip off every self help guru who talks about conquering fear or whatever the fuck they say, so that they can fill 20 hours of cds or dvds.

The problem with the term natural game is that it implies to get good with women you need to learn "game" which is this amorphous secret quality that you can uncover for $99.

I wrote an article called "The Myth of the Natural" a couple years ago. Somehow it got lost in the website transition and I'm really bummed it did.

Basically it was about how every "natural" I've hung out with has spent an inordinate amount of time focusing and thinking about how to pick up girls and going out all the time. They just didn't do it in the community, they did it on their own or with their friends.

Also, I always find it hilarious that community guys will often refer to just an average decent-looking guy who's been with like 8-10 girls as a "natural." That's not being a "natural" with women. That's called being a normal human being.

Ha! One of my good friends is a "natural" - the kid gets SO MUCH ASS it's annoying...Unfortunately he flunked out of college because he spent 95% of time thinking about and chasing girls... he now works as a bouncer
