Sooooooooooooo... I was bored the other day, and came across a lot of REALLY interesting data analysis done by the guy who runs OKCupid. Seriously, the guy must be a genius because some of the statistical analysis he was doing with the millions of points of data he has from running the site is astonishing.

- Want to know the best question to ask to find out if a girl will sleep with you on the first date?

Do you like the taste of beer?

Statistically this the ONLY question out of OKCupids THOUSANDS of survey questions that showed any positive correlation between women being open to sleeping with you on the first date, and, well...liking the taste of beer. Guys had a few more questions that showed correlation (including being willing to blow up the world). But this is not some stupid analysis that you find in the back of a gimmicky magazine - this is actually gathered from analyzing surveys of over 32,000 people. For those of you who know anything about research and statistics - we would say that this analysis most likely has high statistical "Power". I read more into the methods he used too, and he actually used some good statistical techniques (T-Test P<.05)...so...enjoy!

-Want to know if she's a republican or democrat? (Lol, I really like this one)

Do you like the people in your life to be simple or complex?

-Want to know if you and her have long term potential? (This one has 3, the more in common you two have, the more likely you two are to make a good couple)

Do you like horror movies? Does the idea of running off, leaving everything behind, and living on a boat appeal to you? Have you ever traveled to another country alone?

great, I'm never gonna approach a woman again who's holding anything else than a beer bottle ... "Do you like the taste of beer?", awesome opener ...

but seriously, as saito askes, what are the reasons? Maybe the more someone is used to drinking (beer), the more she is likely to engage in intercourse ... I think there should be a correlation between alcohol intake and sexual openness

It's not a cause and effect study, it's simply a correlation study based on thousands and thousands of points of data. According to OKCupid - people who answer yes to "Would you have sex on the first date?" also answer yes to "Do you like the taste of beer?" a lot more frequently than people who don't like the taste of beer.

As to the reason...your guess is as good as mine.

Beer is an acquired taste to an extent, maybe the people who go out and party a lot are the ones that like the taste of beer more, and the ones that go out and party a lot also tend to be the more wild and crazy type of people? I dunno. Point is, if she likes the taste of beer, she's about 2-3 times more likely to sleep with you on the first date than someone who doesn't like the taste of beer.

Yeah there's about a million explanations. Here are a few that pop into my head.

1) Beer is an acquired taste that takes an open mind to get used to because most people don't like it at first. Open-minded people are more likely to have casual sex.
2) Beer is generally drunk more than men than women. Some women who drink it learnt to drink it to fit in with men, whether their male friends or their dad. They seek more validation from men than other women and so have casual sex more often. (This one's a bit un-PC)
3) Beer is drunk in bars. Women who go to bars are more likely to drink beer than those who don't. Women who go to bars are more likely to have casual sex than those who don't.
4) People who don't drink alcohol are less likely to have casual sex than those who do. It's not about beer, it's just about whether they drink alcohol. (This one assumes that women who drink other alcoholic drinks are just as likely to have sex, or have it less because of the other reasons)
5) Women who drink beer get beer bellies and then have sex with lots of men to try and feel good about themselves.

Kidding about the last one . Sort of...

I think all sorts of questions are answered on that website, and they looked at which questions best predicted successful matches. The point was that if you and her either both like or both dislike horror movies, it increases the odds that you guys are a 'match'.
