Hey,

So lately I haven't been going out and I've been using my lifestyle as an excuse. I know Mark wrote a blog post about this, but I would still like to gain some insight about my situation.

-23 years old.
-Recently graduated, having a hard time finding a job (lot of recent grads are )
-Live with my parents (Most people I know around my age live with their parents as well; rent is very expensive in Toronto)
-In decent shape
-Pretty good looking (from what I've been told)
-Have two really good friends that I always hang out plus other friends that I hang out with from time to time
-Have your average guy hobbies (watching sports, shooting pool, etc)

I know I need to explore my hobbies. I love to ski and paintball, but since money is kind of tight I don't really do that right now.

Most of my day is devoted to trying to find a job, but the job market is really tough right now. Might start a seasonal part time job soon, but I want a full time job that will lead to a career.

So I guess my question is, should I still go out and cold approach or should I forget about pickup for a while? If I go out, it's not like I'm going to ignore all these issues but still.

Also, do I get more of a free pass on my lifestyle since I'm a younger guy and the girls I will be going for are going to be mostly in the age range of 19 to 24?

Obviously you should be trying to get a job and get your own place. But I don't see how this should prevent you from going out if you want. Keywords: if you want. If you feel overwhelmed and don't really want to go out. Then don't go out. If you do, then go out.

Lifestyle is a constant work in progress. From now until the day you die. Only in really extreme situations should you drop everything else to focus on it (i.e., you're broke and homeless and living in your car).

Compared to my own life your life seems very good to me.

Yes you can still cold approach, but obviously prioritize the job search first.

Lots of people are going through this. It might take you a while to find a job, but even in good economic times I know plenty of people who spent several months looking before they found anything. Doesn't mean its not out there.

Seriously, don't freak out about this. Just because its taking a while to find a job doesn't mean you won't find one.
