Hi all.
I'm looking for some common-sensed advice.
Sometimes I encounter rude people. Mostly when I go out. And most of these people are drunk.
Why I consider these people rude? They say rude things to me. Last time it was "Can I ride home on your back?" from some low-lifer who was still drunk at 8a.m. when I was at the train station going to the embassy.
I don't know what it is, maybe it's because I'm looking like a harmless guy. I just looked at him with slight contempt and continued on with my journey.
What he said felt very rude to me and I don't want to take shit like that from random assholes. Even the drunkenness is no excuse to me, when I get drunk that I fall over, I don't talk trash to people, especially ones I don't know. I wanted to beat that last spark of intelligence out of his head by bashing it against the nearest wall.

How should you treat those people?
A. Just walk past them as I did and pay no attention and thereby let them spit on your soul and spoil your morning/evening/night?
B. Put them verbally on their place (which seems kinda hopeless to me)?
C. Beat them so hard they won't try talking trash to strangers again (shouldn't be too hard considering they are most often drunk and I've done some boxing)?
D. Provoke them to physical contact by trying to put them in their place and then beat them (then you can say to yourself and possibly the police "He started")?

Option A. is what I always do. Option B. seems pointless to me because they are drunk and won't make any sense. Option C. may ruin your clothes/day/month/year/life. But you get satisfaction (well, I would, but maybe I'm just some kind of a psycho). Option D. is like option C. except you have some excuse.

Heyy i would always go with option A 100% of the time but with the knowledge that if it ever came down to it i could beat his ass. But honestly how could someone's word possibly spoil your morning/evening? No one should have that serious of an impact on your life that your mentally addled by what they say/do. Unless of course its your boss and even that is a stretch. In my oppinion its such a minute situation, just accept that some people are just idiots and maybe even sympathize with them. Cuz you know one day they might say the wrong thing to someone and you'll probably hear about them getting their ass beat on late-night news

Denis, I take it you have never ACTUALLY been in a serious fight. I don't care what they look like or how big they are or whether you box, in a fight on the street you never know. The guy could have a box cutter in his pocket for all you know, and could kill you on the spot. These things escalate. I have a buddy who is a Ranger captain, but not a big guy. When guys get drunk and yell, he's the most calm, non-confrontational person. He just jokes around with them. He could probably beat the crap out of anybody he encounters on the streets of NY, but he knows better than to start shit when there's nothing to be gained from it.

You can't tell what people are thinking. There literally some people that go out and just wait. They wait for something, a reason to pummel or murder somebody. It's pretty sickening, but true. I would run like hell. Live to fight another day, or live to run another day haha.

I know it shouldn't have any effect. These people probably haven't achieved anything in their lives and aren't exaclty planning to. Why would I attach any significance to what they are saying. But I can't help it but find it very unpleasant and disrespectful. It puts me down for a bit.

It's exactly the first thought that pops into my head when I encounter these people. And I believe in it. It would be just pointless, stupid and probably dangerous and totally not worth it. Thats why I put "ruin your .../LIFE" in the last paragraph and that's why I always don't react. And yeah, I have experience with crazy shit people from growing up in the Russian suburbs during all of the 1990's. Thank fate I moved away from there.

It's just I always get the desire to punch m in the face and keep hitting till he can't stand up (so he won't come after me with some broken bottle). Probably it's just me and my issues. Doesn't anyone else have this?

is it possible that there's something else in your life causing some stress, that's making you so angry. i remember i used to snap at little things but i realized that i wasn't those little things that were actually making me mad; but something completely unrelated. I might be way off base here and this is probably not even relevant to you, but if it is find a way to use that anger.

You could dedicate it to going to the gym, MMA, something else other than imagining pummeling a guy who probably won't remember what he said to you while you think about it the rest of the day.

Option A; 10 times out of 10.

I think the real question is: why does stuff like this get to you? Shit like this happens to me all the time, and I just find it funny. I'm not offended at all.

So let me ask you, why does it offend you? Why do you find it rude? You don't have to answer on the board. Just something to think about.

I can somewhat relate to him. I'm currently undergoing my last year in highschool and I still get harassed by freshmen and sophomores (what the hell haha) even though I'm huge compare to them!

I don't know if this is it, but is it the idea that these guys think they can do this to you? The fact that in their heads, they went, "Hey look at this guy. Imma fuck with him." That if it were some huge sonofabitch that they wouldn't dare even breath in his direction, let alone diss him? I can definitely relate.

But considering the fact he was inebriated, you should let it slide. A drunk is lost in his own world. They'd fight with a wall if they thought it looked at them funny. When it comes to people well and sober doing this, that's when it gets serious, in my opinion.

Dude, you found "Can I ride on your back?" rude? C'mon man. Get a sense of humor. Stop buying into the alpha shit. It doesn't mean jack shit. Even for getting women. I think you should stop taking yourself so seriously. Which btw is good advice for me too. And just about everybody. Nobody can demean you unless you allow them to.
