I realize this is a pretty ancient community concept, but I felt it's still a valid concept to explore, or reexplore.
I think mirroring is a pretty solid way to build both attraction and comfort.
Now, I havent really use mirroring for a long time in pickup, but I cant help but realize how useful it is in sales.
Basically, I do a lot of sales over the phone and my friend taught me the importance of mirroring.
Basically, I greet my client first with my name and start to mirror them base on the tonality of their voice.
If their voice sounds soft, I would sound soft like them but at the same time, I put in a slightly higher level of dominance in my voice.
If their voice sounds loud, rude, short and dominant, I would do the same and put in a slightly higher level of dominance then them.
I notice that as I do this, my client voice naturally start to sounds softer and subconsciously trust and respect me more and I was able to get them to trust the product more.
I think that if the person you're talking to is naturally super shy, if you came in gun blazing, you'll freak the hell out of that person.
However, if the person is naturally dominant and you came in 50 percent less dominant, they would look at you in scorn.
In fact, mirroring and upping your level of dominant is pretty much the entire basis of subcommunication in the community.
Given the fact that I cant convey dominance through my body language, I realize how much you can convey merely from your voice.
If you're dominant, your voice sounds deeper, louder, and have a slightly rude type of emotion conveying. Sometime this is needed to build more respect and trust.
I'm going to field test this more on girls and get back to you guys how effective it is infield.
