I just took a quick look around his website. Seems great. I always like it when guys have the guts to step away from mainstream advice.

This guy is also legit: http://www.leangains.com/
Well written, I'm not entirely sure I buy the paleo thing though.
I've talked to a buddy of mine who took 10 years worth of biology in school and he confirmed to me there are truth to the whole insulin idea.

Here's a video of mark sisson if you dont like reading his blog lol: http://www.the21convention.com/2011/04/0...t21c-2010/
Mark Sisson's the shit! I was able to take off about 25 pounds just implementing A FEW of the diet recommendations he has. His workout advice about lifting heavy weight, but keeping the volume low has done wonders for my physique as well. And he does it without the condescending attitude you get from a lot of the other Paleo guys online. Well worth the read.
It's ok. Lots of useful stuff for the general population.
For them it won't matter that he really isn't as knowledgeable as he pretends to be (such as on the mechanisms of insulin and the like). He does understand the importance of kcal, protein intake, unprocessed foods and (heavy) weight lifting though, which are some of the most important factors.

But it's evangelical marketing.
To some it's a cult, to some it's a close knit community. This might allow for better adherence (people feel accepted and cool when playing caveman), but results in unsound reasoning (using overly simple arguments like "caveman didn't have x") and less money in your wallet (ludicrously expensive supplements and protein powders he want to sell you). No wonder he has some nice houses Wink (But as long as it helps people that much I'm happy for him)

You will get results with his advice. Not optimal, but far better than most diet, health & training advice out there.

Just don't forget that he really isn't a top-notch expert in all of this.
Who in your opinion is the top notch expert? I dont mind learning more lol
My understanding is Dr. Loren Courdain is a major academic advocate of the paleo diet. I think that the fact that Mark Sisson spoke at the 21 convention is decent evidence that he is NOT the top expert in his field.

There is definitely truth to the idea that excess simple carbohydrates increase insulin, but the paleo diet makes many more claims than that.
?? simple carbohydrates = bread, pasta, rice ??

Could not life without those
I think pretty much everybody says too much refined carbohydrates (white flour, white rice) are bad for you. The paleo people avoid all grains (so yes, rice, bread, pasta).
